Exotic Dancer's Adult Nightclubs Guide 2006/7

Fetish magazines are one of the tastiest pleasures offered to the discerning perv. I remember opening my very first issue of Secret -- it must have been issue #7 or #8 -- and being absolutely entranced. A dozen years later, I'm still entranced by that fine publication and all the others that keep the fetish world purring. These high-tech newfangled websites I keep hearing about certainly offer a volume of fetish content unmatched by any single magazine -- but there's something so lovely about the experience of enjoying a print magazine that I can guarantee these pubs won't be going away any time soon. Here's a preview of some tasty delights that have recently crossed my desk.

Issue #55 of Skin Two features a 15-page special report by Eros Zine contributor James J asking "Is fetish really the new porn?" It's an insightful exploration of a topic dear to my own heart, referencing, among other things, such crossover titles as Rocco Sifredi's Animal Trainer, The Fashionistas, and Euro Domination. What's more, Michael Fearnley then chats with Tony Pirelli of Kink.com, who has some excellent things to say about BDSM, censorship, and politics. This is, of course, in addition to another hundred or so pages of the gorgeous photography, delectable ads, event listings, news items, and the like that make the debauchment of my mailbox by Skin Two each season a hotly-anticipated event. It should come as no surprise, but Skin Two just keeps getting better and better. Subscribe at skintwo.com.

One of my favorite photographers and digital artists, Bill Reichardt -- also known as Tsubasa -- lends his talents as Executive Editor and Creative Director of the brand-spanking-new Buckle Magazine. Given that Europe and the UK have always put out the best fetish magazines, I confess to a flush of pride at the gorgeous design and breathtaking images showcased here. Buckle is published in Atlanta, a Southern city with a fetish scene said to be top notch; since this brand of beautiful perversion has thus far been offered mostly as an imported delicacy, I'm pleased to see an American fetish mag with the same qualities as those esteemed publications.

Buckle's first issue profiled Steve Diet Goedde, the saucy and brilliant creations of illustrator Tyson McAdoo, Girl Armour designer Ian O'Donnell, and Fetishgossip.com. Executive Editor and Copy Director G. Bartel contributes a fun article on pleasure dressing and a delightfully perverse piece of fiction called "Extreme: Diets."

Buckle #2 heats it up with a profile of Erotique Digital's Kelly Lind, the gorgeous designs of Demask, Nelly Recchia, Martin Pelzer, and a bad-ass event-review throwdown between Valentine's Day gigs in Hollywood and Charlotte, North Carolina. Add Bartel's article on six decades of fetish Divas and a meditation by Foot Talk blogger Cameron Kippen on the eroticism of shoes, as well as reviews of the new Goedde DVD and Krysztof Nemeth's new book, and you've got one of the best new publications to come along in years. It's a welcome shot in the arm for the North American fetish community, and an absolute must-read for anyone who loves the European fetish glossies. Subscribe at bucklemagazine.com.

Hey, while we're on this side of the pond, let's cross the street for a minute. Tempted by Fetish Diva Midori's recent column, I requested a comp copy of Instigator Magazine #10, which, as it turns out, contains some of the nastiest, filthiest gay porn I've seen in years. If Secret, Marquis or Skin Two were going to start publishing hardcore gay male porn, this would be their competition. It features everything from hardcore photo shoots to hardcore erotic fiction to a roundtable interview with writer Clive Barker and artists Sean Platter and Chuck Conner -- the first question of which should give you some sense of the magazine's tone: "How the Hell did you get into this shit?"

Celebrating the alpha male in all his brutal, piggish glory, Instigator is the worthy successor to classic leather mags like Drummer and Manifest Reader, but with production quality that puts it squarely in the fetish-magazine camp. Subscribe at instigatormagazine.com.

Heading back to Europe: Issue #37 of Marquis starts out with a bang -- with a breathtaking profile by Chief Editor Peter W. Czernich of fetish model Susan Wayland, aka Sway. From there, Sven Calsbach offers us a profile of designer Rosengarn, and Amelia G and Forrest Black's column "Big in America" gives us the low-down on more cool items from the New World than this yank knows what to do with -- cuddly goth toys, the hot new models, designers -- it's the place to get mentioned if you're an up-and-comer.

Czernich's profile of Suzi Lorraine is gorgeous, and Zarya's coverage of Berlin designer TO.mTO is worth the price of admission on its own. Other highlights include profiles of Engineers of Desire designer Cassie Carpenter (with photos by Robert Chouraqui), photographer Victoria Perelet, writer and inventor JG Leathers, and a pinktastic taste of Bianca Beauchamp. There's more, including sexy fiction and a whole pile of event reviews, -- like you would need anything more for this issue to be squarely in the must-have category. Marquis has been top-shelf material for thirty-six issues now, and thirty-seven's more than a charm. Subscribe at marquis.de.

Those of you -- which is probably most of you -- following Secret might be aware that there's been a bit of web trouble at secretmag.com, leading some to whisper anxiously about that first-rate publication's possible shuffling off of this mortal coil. Whisper no more, rumor-mongers! Not only are the speculations about Secret's demise greatly exaggerated -- repeating them will get you a stern spanking.

Secret's website is back with a lovely preview of the forthcoming issue -- and by the time it hits my mailbox, I assure you, I will be frothing at the mouth. Issue #29 features interviews with Mistress Isabella Sinclaire, Goddess Dea Donatella, and photographs by Christophe Mourthé. The new issue will also include coverage of the Essen and Berlin scenes, a feature on anal play, the history of the pinup, rubber facesitting, scarification, and more. We'll also see more lovely art from Tsubasa, art by Ray Leaning, and a Dita Von Teese pictorial by Silvercanvas. Add images from Joël-Peter Witkin, Hans Gössing, Mick Luvbight, Masaaki
Toyoura, Gaëtan Caputo....look, do I need to go on? Apologize to publisher and editor Jürgen Boedt for thinking even for one second that the world could continue to exist without Secret, and watch Secretmag.com for the new issue's impending release.

All it takes is a tour through these fine publications to know that fetish is thriving throughout this spinning globe. But it's worth adding that another publication has landed on my desk -- every bit as dirty and delicious a pleasure as its more fetishy companions. Exotic Dancer's Adult Nightclubs Guide is hot off the presses. Want to know where to ogle the nicest knockers in Knoxville? Looking for a lap-dance in Louisville? Tempted by a tease in Tampa? This is your bible. With special offers, tasty pictures and pertinent commentary throughout -- hey, you can tell people you're reading it for the articles -- it's a must-have if exotic dancers are your pleasure. At 184 pages, it's a whole lot of info for $24.95, but it also comes with a free VIP card that gets you free or half-price admission, and maybe a free drink, at more than 750 of the guide's 2,300 adult nightclubs. Check it out at www.exoticdancer.com.
