Superfreak, the second release from San Francisco's Pink and White Productions and Blowfish Video, is a girlicious confection of a movie covered head-to-toe with multicolored flower decals and laced throughout with a groovy funk soundtrack. A clever cross-breeding of smooth, jazzy rhythms and explicit, realistic porn, it's a shameless exploration of female pleasure that's simultaneously playful and serious.

I say "serious" because there's a serious agenda here -- and one that's pretty clear, at least to my trained eyes. Superfreak isn't your average porn movie -- it's feminist smut, political by its very nature. Take the opening wank scene with Eros Zine fave Madison Young. It almost couldn't be any further from the solo scenes you see in mainstream porn, where the motions of dildo and vibrator, limb and quivering lip, are all carelessly choreographed to please the viewer -- presumably a dude. This ain't that. Tangled up in ropes, she fucks herself with a dildo while working her clit with a Hitachi -- and there's such an intense realness to it that it almost boggles the mind. I remain cautiously attracted to hyperbole, it's true, but this may just be the most authentic scene of female masturbation I've yet seen on camera. I've watched a fair number of women wank, and if Madison isn't actually doing her thing in this scene, then I'll munch my black leather Johnny Reb hat.

After Madison's sizzling solo outing, Superfreak follows the filthy happenings at one steamy party in a Mission District loft. Madison's arrival causes a ripple of arousal to spread through the crowd of women grooving to grinding, funky rhythms, and each scene is brought on by the wave of erotic energy she brings in.

Never one to waste time flirting, Madison glombs on to sexy tomboy Dylan Rion, drops to her knees and begins sucking Dylan's hefty dildo. She then mounts Dylan and fervently fucks her up against the wall, while the other partygoers continue their lascivious shimmy-shakes to the slow grind of some funky R&B. Here, too, Madison's as real as it gets, and even though the improbably athletic position of their tryst is pure porno, the fucking is real.

Next, Shawn and Vasa get going up against the kitchen sink, in one of the most intense, realistic and powerful scenes of cunnilingus I've ever seen. Even the dish sprayer gets involved. Klaris then flips Shawn for some serious doggy-style fingerfucking. Meanwhile, there's some hardcore processing going on in the bathroom, Rozen and Guy Handful discussing their emotional needs while an impatient line forms outside. Nobody's going to get to relieve themselves any time soon -- clearly seeking to increase the depth of their intimacy, Rozen and Guy resort to energetic dildo-sucking 69 and then a frenetic, powerful handfucking.

True to the San Francisco school of porn, there have been plenty of handsome butches and sexy tomboys thus far -- but as the party winds down femmes Dana DeArmond and Princess Donna up the femme quotient when coquettish Lorelei Lee shows up asking "did I miss the party?" She didn't. DeArmond and Princess Donna frogwalk Ms. Lee from couch to coffee table, where Lorelei is laid quite forcefully down and spread wide for a rough dildofuck from Donna, complete with clit-spanking, cunnilingus, and furious manhandling. They flip Lorelei and Dana takes over fingerfuck duties, invading Lorelei's ass while Mistress Donna alternately kisses Lorelei and slaps her face. Donna and Lorelei end up in 69 while Dana presents her ass and, taking a break from Donna, Lorelei obediently rims her. The whole thing comes to a thundering conclusion, one of the hardest orgy scenes on record.

If hot dyke porn is what you're into, there's no question that this title is required viewing. But it's also interesting because the action seems so genuine -- as realistic as video has ever captured. Superfreak is definitely a keeper.
