The next time you're in the Detroit area and you happen to run across some fire breathers, stilt walkers, tattooed models, and a few performers with metal spikes pierced through their faces, chances are you can thank Chaos Productions.

This 7 year old talent agency and production company for alternative performers is the brainchild of Ally Stapleton, a retired Dominatrix, who decided to trade-in her whip in favor of entertaining crowds with her unusual band of "sideshow freaks", a term she uses proudly.

To the untrained, corralling this cast of extremists would be disastrous. Yet the Chaos Productions weekly Sunday rehearsals are run with military precision. Perhaps it's Stapleton's matriarchal tendencies, or perhaps it's drawing from skills developed in her previous career ordering about misbehaving men and women.

Also drawn from her previous career is her influence amongst fetish, swinger, kinky lifestyle event promoters and personalities. The list of "who's who" in the fetish scene Chaos Productions has conspired with includes celebrated fetish photographer and Eros Zine favorite Lithium Picnic, the tattoo covered Insectivora, and fetish model Persephone.

So how successful has the Chaos formula proven to be? Well, consider that only a few years ago, Chaos Productions' claim to fame was performances at private Burning Man parties, and exotic shows at Detroit-area venues like Wild Orchid, The Industrial Movement, and Theater Bizarre.

Then in early 2007, the group joined forces with internationally renowned fetish model/promoter Vena to produce Exotica Detroit, a 3 day erotic event that by all accounts was a rousing success, promising to help Detroit join the top tier of fetish-endowed cities.

This relationship with Vena would lead to an invitation to perform at the famed Los Angeles Bondage Ball in front of a Hollywood celebrity crowd and on the pages of mainstream media including Rolling Stone and GQ Magazines.

Following performances at the recent Detroit Electronic Music Festival and the X-Ball, the group's next venture will be at the New Orleans Voodoo Festival in October, where they will be featured on the main stage alongside acts like Rage Against The Machine, Smashing Pumpkins, Sinead O'Conner, Wilco and Fall Out Boy.

Meanwhile, Stapleton's telephone constantly rings off the hook as she finalizes plans with Vena for Exotica 2 scheduled for this November. Did somebody forget to tell Ally Stapleton about some kind of "declining Michigan economy"?
