The parade is open to everyone for free, but it's nice to give a donation, since the parade runs on a shoestring budget. All you need to do is show up! Participants line up on Sixth Avenue at Spring Street beginning around 5pm and it’s a total blast to just mill about in the street and see the costumes up close. The parade steps off sometime around 7pm (ball park!) and travels up to 21st Street. There are enormous floats, festooned vehicles, marching bands, drum corps and about a million marchers on foot -- like you! The parade ends early enough for you to attend other events or be safe in bed before midnight, since it is a weekday. Whatever you do on the actual Halloween holiday, the parade is certainly the most stellar. At press time (or writing time, given that there IS no “press time” for an online zine) we hadn’t heard of any big shindigs on Halloween Eve. But don’t let that discourage you. If you make it to any of the weekend events or the big parade itself, we’re sure you’ll be handed at least one flier -- if not a dozen -- for other frightful festivities. Have a blast! Boo!
